Holi Is Everything You've Seen in Photos β€” Times Ten

The photos don't do it justice. The laughter, the music, the strangers becoming friends over handfuls of pink powder β€” Holi is a total immersion in joy.

🎨

Holi in Jaipur Streets

We join a local neighbourhood celebration in Jaipur β€” not a staged tourist event, but the real thing. Our guide navigates you in and introduces you to local families. White clothes provided; leave them behind.

πŸ›•

Mathura & Vrindavan

Holi originated here β€” in Krishna's birthplace. The temple celebrations begin a week before the main day (Lathmar Holi) and are extraordinary. We time a visit to coincide.

🏯

Palace Holi in Jaipur

The Jaipur royal family hosts a spectacular Holi celebration at City Palace β€” open to the public but we get you positioned perfectly, with elephant processions, folk musicians, and the maharaja's blessing.

πŸŒ…

Golden Triangle Included

The tour includes the Golden Triangle highlights β€” Taj Mahal, Delhi, Jaipur β€” so Holi is the spectacular climax of a complete India experience.

πŸ›

Colour & Cleanup Strategy

We brief you fully before Holi day β€” what to wear, how to protect your camera, where to be when, and how to get the colours off (hint: coconut oil). No surprises.

🍽

Holi Food Feast

Holi has its own cuisine β€” gujiya sweets, thandai (milk with spices and sometimes bhang), malpua pancakes. We include a Holi food celebration.

Everything You Need to Know

Holi falls on the full moon of Phalgun (the Hindu lunar calendar) β€” usually in early to mid-March. The exact date changes annually. 2026: March 2–3. 2027: March 22–23. We'll confirm exact dates and build your itinerary accordingly.
With proper guidance, absolutely. We join established neighbourhood celebrations with families our guide knows personally. We brief you fully beforehand on etiquette, how to say no to bhang (cannabis milk), camera protection, and what to expect. Hundreds of our guests have celebrated Holi safely and called it the best day of their lives.
Colour powder is the main risk β€” it can get into lenses and buttons. We advise bringing an older phone for photos, or using a clear plastic zip-lock bag as a camera sleeve (surprisingly effective). Professional photographers on our tours use lens-protection filters and sealed bags.
Perfectly fine β€” you can watch from the edges rather than jumping in. However, even observers often get a little colour thrown their way, especially by enthusiastic children. We dress everyone in white for a reason.
Yes β€” Holi happens once a year. However, if you're traveling at other times, we can include Holi-related cultural experiences (Vrindavan temples, colour-making workshops) in other itineraries. And many guests who miss Holi book the Diwali tour in October/November instead.

Holi sells out every year. Don't miss it.

March dates fill fast β€” sometimes 8–10 months in advance. Tell us your preferred year and we'll check availability and send a free itinerary today.
